Just in Time for the Big Visit – iPope

His Digital Holiness

So exactly what IS on the Pope’s iPod? A bit of punk mixed in with some funky reggae? Not likely.

Wouldn’t you know…the guy is a Classics hound. “Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frederic Chopin, Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky and Igor Stravinsky. Also on the iPod: A special 20-minute feature on the life and music of Mozart to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Austrian composer–a favorite of Benedict” I think most of us would have guessed that – but then we all can appreciate a good PR campaign… right?

Actually, there IS an answer to that somewhat esoteric question. And if you MUST know, well…check it out: What’s on the Pope’s iPod.

Not to be out-marketed by any other religion, Catholics worldwide now have the distinct opportunity to share thier love of Christ through swag. Whatever happened to the WWJD bracelets that circulated with the bright yellow “Live Strong” we all wore (before they lost their fashionable tug).

And if that’s not quite enough for you…check out Benedictions – His Holiness’ official blog. Replete with Catholic Fashion Must-Haves of This Season, and a complete listing of appearances and events scheduled. Can you say “SuperStar” without bending backward and sticking your fingers into your armpits?

Had I ANY idea that you could make money off of your faith, I might have hung tight with the alter boy gig in the 4th grade. At the time, we were obviously newbies thinking the sneaks of red wine were devilishy good. Over time, we quickly learned that you’d get a MUCH better rate of pay for a funeral as opposed to a wedding. Those poor folk took pity on us at funerals – when in fact, they’re were a much easier ceremony to participate and help with in the long run.

Commerce in religion – it’s the American way!
